Faith Mission Summer Camp Harby - Prayer Letter
Dear all, This time next week, the back field of the Faith Mission Centre Harby will either be a peaceful and quiet group of sleeping tents or a cacophany of giggling, sweet packets and shining torches held by excited (and hopefully not home-sick) 9-11year olds! Then a week of 12-14s and finally the 15+s. One things for certain, it'll be the start of another 3 weeks of camp! (25/7/10 - 13/8/10) Faith Mission Camp Harby, Leicestershire.
I'm sending this message to those I know of who are leading/attending camp this year, a few old-FM'ers and Christians I know on the blogosphere too, we'd love to share prayer requests with you all. I know many of you are doing other camps, mission trips, work etc. this year, but didn't want to exclude you! Really looking forward to seeing many of you over the next few weeks, and in the near future for others who aren't Harbying this year.
There's a leaders meeting the night before each week of camp, but I thought it would be great to start praying now and get you praying too. As you'll know, although it's a fantastic and gospel-filled time, it's also draining and challenging, and none of it is possible without our Amazing God. Our loving heavenly Father who so longs to see his people come back to him, that he sent his only Son, Jesus, as the way back to him. That through Christ's death we would have life. What a privilege and joy it is to have been shown that matchless, undeserved grace and mercy! And the privilege and joy it is to be able to share that with others, that they may know him too. And that we're not alone, but God leaves his Spirit to help us.
Let's be praying that God would be preparing the hearts of all of us. All the campers, parents, leaders and speakers. How amazing it would be to see the kingdom of God grow at camp this year, and beyond! Praise God for all the provision he gives, of all the good and perfect gifts; from facilities to food, bibles to beds, trained first aiders to tuck shop (where those not on duty can have a rest!).
Pray also for Dan and others who'll be doing the talks, that God would use them to speak what he wants to say to us and the campers, faithfully and engagingly to/by his word, the Bible. Also that campers ears and hearts would be attentive and retentive to God's word. Pray for us as leaders as we take morning and evening discussions/bible-studies that we'd have strength and wisdom serving the kids, and God would use us to bring them to Jesus, sowing seeds, gathering the harvest or encouraging them in their faith. Pray that their families may know him too. Many of them go back to difficult and sometimes unloving situations.
Let's be praying all these things in Jesus' name with confidence, relying and trusting in him alone, remembering what he's done and what he's promised he will do. "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God" - Hebrews 12:2

TOOK THE BLAME, BORE THE WRATH

How Deep The Father's Love For Us
How deep the Father's love for us,
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure
How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One,
Bring many sons to glory
Behold the Man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice,
Call out among the scoffers
It was my sin that helf Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished
I WILL NOT BOAST IN ANYTHING
NO GIFTS, NO POWER, NO WISDOM
BUT I SHALL BOAST IN JESUS CHRIST
HIS DEATH AND RESURRECTION
Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
